Heinz Potthoff (born March 30, 1904 in Bielefeld ; † September 13, 1974 there ) was a German manager, civil servant and politician of the SPD .

Potthoff did an apprenticeship as a machinist and worked in this profession until 1926. He then worked as a journalist until 1932. Between 1932 and 1936 Potthoff studied economics in Cologne , Frankfurt am Main and in Zurich . He received his doctorate as Dr. oec.

Between 1936 and 1941 Potthoff was a consultant for the mechanical engineering group based in Chemnitz . After that he was deputy director of the Diehl metal works in Nuremberg until 1943 . Then he was administrative director of the Gerhard Fieseler works in Kassel until 1945 . In 1945 and 1946 Potthoff was commercial director of the Minden-Ravensberg power station in Herford .

Since 1946 Potthoff was a civil servant in the Federal Ministry of Economics . In 1947 he was appointed Ministerial Director. Together with Franz Blücher and Ludwig Partl, he was the head of the German delegation at the International Ruhr Authority . He was then a member of the High Authority of the European Coal and Steel Community from 1952 to 1962 .

politics

Potthoff had been a member of the SPD since 1920. He was a member of the district board in Ostwestfalen-Lippe, as well as the sub-district Bielefeld-Halle. He was also chairman of the party's economic policy committee in East Westphalia-Lippe. Before 1933 he was a shop steward for the German metalworkers union . After 1945 he became a member of IG Metall .

Mandates

In 1946 Potthoff was a member of the Provincial Council of Westphalia and the appointed state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . Between 1966 and 1970 Potthoff was directly elected member of the state parliament for the constituency of Bielefeld II.
