Heinz Reitbauer (born August 23, 1970 in Vienna ) is an Austrian chef. Since 2014 his restaurant Steirereck has been recognized as the best restaurant in Austria.

Life

Heinz Reitbauer attended the hotel management school in Altötting, Bavaria, and then began his apprenticeship in his parents' restaurant Steirereck in Vienna , which he completed with Karl and Rudi Obauer in Werfen . Between 1989 and 1992 he spent his traveling years with Alain Chapel in Mionnay , Anton Mosimann in London , with Joël Robuchon and at Laurent in Paris . Then he returned to the Steirereck and began planning for the Steirereck am Pogusch in Turnau, which he opened in 1996 as Chef de cuisine. In 2001 he took over the management of the Steirereck restaurant in Pogusch from his parents.

In 2005 he moved to the Steirereck restaurant in Vienna and inherited Helmut Österreicher as Chef de cuisine in Steirereck . He moved the restaurant from its original address, Rasumofskygasse, on the corner of Weißgerberlände, to the dairy in the city park .

In 2014 the terrace area of ​​the Steirereck restaurant was replaced by a polygonal mirrored pavilion .

Heinz Reitbauer is married and has three children.
