Heinz Rox-Schulz
Heinz Rox-Schulz , actually Heinz Schulz , or Rox for short , (born March 23, 1921 in Königsberg , East Prussia ; † March 26, 2004 in Saarbrücken ) was a German globetrotter and adventurer . Rox, the king of globetrotters , as he was once called in " Der Spiegel ", lived in Saarbrücken and ran an adventure museum in the old town hall on Schlossplatz.
Life
Rox learned top lathe operators and was an avid athlete (gymnastics, swimming, sailing, boxing). After the war and imprisonment, he trundled through Germany as an artist. From 1950 onwards he had engagements abroad and began to travel around the world. Soon he was documenting his experiences in photos and films. From 1962 he was a freelancer for Saarland television . In the 1970s he set up his adventure museum in Saarbrücken.
A few days after his 83rd birthday, Rox-Schulz died on March 26, 2004 in his adopted home Saarbrücken.
