Heinz Sarkowski
Heinz Sarkowski (* 1925 in Waren (Müritz) ; † March 15, 2006 in Dossenheim ) was a German book manufacturer, senior publisher and author, mainly on publishing history.
Life
After two years of service with the Wehrmacht during the Second World War , he completed an apprenticeship in bookselling at the Gustav Weiland company in Lübeck , where he had also spent his childhood. Sarkowski was employed by several large publishing houses, including the Insel-Verlag , S. Fischer Verlag , the Georg von Holtzbrinck publishing group and the Piper Verlag . From 1976 to 1992 Sarkowski was head of the production department at Springer-Wissenschaftsverlag .
His work Der Insel-Verlag. 1899-1969 (1970, revised 1999) established his reputation as an expert in book and publishing history.
