Heinz , actually Heinrich Waldmüller (born November 12, 1887 in Munich ; † November 2, 1945 in Erlangen ), was a German landscape painter and etcher , who mainly worked in Munich and Nuremberg .

Life

Waldmüller grew up as the son of an artist in Wil in the canton of St. Gallen . At the age of 20 he returned to his birthplace, where he first studied etching at the Royal School of Applied Arts in Munich with Maximilian Dasio , later painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Otto Seitz . He was a soldier in the First World War , stayed in Paris in 1929 , lived in Nuremberg from 1931 to 1945, then in Erlangen. In 1949 a street was named after him in the Alterlangen district of Erlangen.
