Heinz Sauter (* 2. March 1910 in Trieste , † the 30th March 1988 in Innsbruck ) was an Austrian translator , writer and engineer of electrical engineering .

In 1936 he married Juliane Pleschner, thus Lilly von Sauter . From the end of the 1950s, Heinz von Sauter began translating works of fiction from French and English in addition to his professional activity . For his first complete German translation of the memoirs “The Story of My Life ” by Giacomo Casanova (1725–1798), he received the 1982 Johann Heinrich Voss Prize for Translation from the German Academy for Language and Poetry in Darmstadt .
