Reviews
- Jonathan Rosenbaum wrote in the Chicago Reader that the comedy was charming. There aren't many films about middle-aged women with so much “wit” and “heart”.
- Roger Ebert wrote in the Chicago Sun-Times of April 12, 2002 that love - or that which is portrayed as such - won too early in the film. Jed and Kate only associate lust.
- Michael Atkinson wrote in The Village Voice on Sept. April 2002, the film was the worst film in years. He would concentrate on irrelevant questions, the tragic moments were shown "manipulatively", the motives of the characters were "confused". Atkinson also criticized the director.
