Helena Rapaport (born August 26, 1994 in Stockholm ) is a Swedish ski racer . She specializes in the fast downhill and Super-G disciplines and became the Swedish Super-G Champion in 2015.
biography
Helena Rapaport comes from Stockholm and starts for the Mälaröarnas Alpina SK.
At the age of 15 she competed in her first FIS race in Hemsedal . At the national level it caused a sensation for the first time in March 2011 when she won the bronze medal in the Super-G at the Swedish championships behind Jessica Lindell-Vikarby and Emelie Wikström . In February 2012 she made her European Cup debut in the Super-G of Sella Nevea , but was only able to score points for the first time in December 2015 with rank 17 in the combination of Kvitfjell . At the Junior World Championships in Jasná , she finished 32, 48 and 52 in downhill, super-G and super-combined. In 2014/15 she celebrated her most successful season for the time being. In February she won the bronze medal in Super-G at the Universiade in Sierra Nevada , but was eliminated in three other races. At the Junior World Championship in Hafjell , she was able to improve her results slightly and finished in 26th, 29th and 32nd in downhill, super-G and super-combined. At the end of the season, she was crowned national champion in Åre in the Super-G for the first time.
On December 4, 2015 Rapaport made her World Cup debut in the downhill from Lake Louise , but has not yet been able to achieve a place in the points at other starts. She achieved her best result in the European Cup in February 2017 with eighth place in the Super-G in Sarntal . Two years later she took part in her home world championship in Åre and finished 35th in the downhill, but did not finish in the Super-G.
Her older sister Matilda Rapaport was active as a freeride athlete and was killed in an avalanche in the Chilean Andes in 2016 . Her aunt is the actress Alexandra Rapaport .
Trivia
On January 25, 2019, Rapaport and her teammates Lisa Hörnblad and Lin Ivarsson saved the life of a German official on the sidelines of the Kandahar races in Garmisch-Partenkirchen . The 60-year-old had suffered a heart attack in a gondola , whereupon the three Swedes gave first aid. Hörnblad carried out cardiopulmonary resuscitation until the rescue helicopter arrived at the mountain station.
