Helene Budliger Artieda

Helene Budliger Artieda (* 1965 in Zurich , resident in Sulz LU ) is a Swiss diplomat , former director of resources in the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs and since 2019 ambassador to Thailand , Cambodia and Laos , based in Bangkok .

Career

Her career at the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (FDFA) began in 1985 as a secretary in Bern. In this role, Helene Budliger Artieda came to her first foreign assignments in Lagos in Nigeria , Havana in Cuba and San Francisco in the USA . She completed the EDA stage in Bern , and did the practical part as a consular employee in Strasbourg . In 1994 she was able to successfully close the stage. Her first stop after completing her training was Budliger Artieda in Lima , Peru , where she met her future husband.

During her employment at the Swiss embassy in Colombia , Helen Budliger Artieda studied business administration in Bogotá . She completed her studies with a master’s degree. In 2000 she returned to Switzerland and held various positions in the finance department of the FDFA. From July 1, 2006 to 2008, Budliger Artieda was CFO at the EDA. In 2008, Foreign Minister Micheline Calmy-Rey appointed Helen Budliger Artieda as the first female official director of the FDFA. On October 1, 2008, Budliger Artieda took over the management of resources in the FDFA from Martin Dahinden , who has taken over the management of the SDA . Until September 2015 she headed 380 employees and managed an annual budget of three billion francs.

In September 2015 Helene Budiger Artieda became Swiss Ambassador to South Africa . Even Namibia , Botswana , Lesotho , Swaziland and Mauritius were among their respective territories. In addition, she was also an ambassador to the Southern African Development Community (SADC) in Gaborone . On December 14, 2018, the Federal Council appointed Helene Budliger Artieda as Swiss Ambassador to Thailand, Cambodia and Laos. In October 2019 she took over the new office.

Helene Budliger Artieda is married and has her second residence in Eich LU , Budliger Artieda grew up in Dübendorf .
