Life

Helga Boddin grew up in Hamburg-Winterhude , where her parents ran a dairy products shop . It belonged - in the time of National Socialism mandatory - the BDM and resulted among others in the local game crowd directed at smaller plays. She became assistant to the group leader for foil fencing . A few months before the end of the war, Helga Boddin had to do labor in Wismar .

After the end of the war she returned to Hamburg and after some time found a job as an assistant director at the Städtebundtheater. It was a touring theater , which, under the direction of Ludwig Cremer , moved through Schleswig-Holstein with its productions , carrying stage sets and technical equipment on trucks.

Radio

In 1945 Ludwig Cremer became head of the radio department at what was then NWDR and placed Helga Boddin in 1946 as an assistant for school radio. From the end of 1946 to the end of 1947 she was suspended by the NWDR because of an allegedly false information in the personnel sheet. At the objection of the NDR controller, Hugh Carlton Greene , appointed by the British occupying forces , she was allowed to attend radio school for three months and then worked for school radio from 1948 to 1955. After a time as a girl for everything , she joined Frauenfunk as an editorial assistant in 1955. Her editorial skills and tasks grew. Until 1958, among other things, she edited manuscripts and directed the recording of broadcasts as a director.

Finally, in 1958, she moved to the entertainment department of NDR , which was headed by Henri Regnier . For the morning music , she selected record programs and began to moderate. Her memorable deep voice soon made her very popular among listeners. She rose to editor and presented, among other things, the Saturday Night Club , news from the music market and the hit parade . From 1979 until her retirement in 1982, she served as the deputy head of the entertainment department.
