Helix is an American science fiction - television series that between 10 January 2014 and 29 April 2015 on the US channel Syfy aired. The series follows a team of scientists who are investigating a virus outbreak at a research station in the Arctic. The series was discontinued after two seasons.
action
The plot of the series depicts the experiences of a team consisting of scientists and security personnel who operate in a high-tech research laboratory in Antarctica. Led by Dr. Alan Farragut (Billy Campbell), the head of the US health authority CDC , the group mainly deals with an outbreak of an epidemic. The initial spark for the corresponding infectious disease is a virus. The special thing about this virus, however, is its nature. Last but not least, scientists of all stripes gather here, who are considered leading personalities in their field.
However, no one has yet managed to get the threat posed by the virus under control. At an advanced stage, the pathogen could wipe out all of humanity. As a result, safety is the top priority of the hour - no one is allowed to leave or enter the facility without permission. The further the team pushes its investigation, the more dangerous the situation becomes. Eventually the situation in the Arctic escalates and a bitter struggle for life and death begins. Gradually, the workforce at the research facility is decimated and an escape from the infected hell seems impossible.

The German dubbing is created under the dialogue direction of Klaus Bauschulte by the dubbing company Berliner Synchron AG Wenzel Lüdecke in Berlin .

In the US, the first season began broadcasting on Syfy on January 10th and ended on March 28th, 2014. Despite the manageable audience ratings, the station announced the production of a second season with 13 episodes at the end of March 2014. The broadcast of this began on January 16, 2015 on Syfy. Due to falling ratings, the broadcaster decided in April 2015 not to approve the series for a third season and to discontinue it.
Germany
The first broadcast of the first season on German pay TV was from April 10 to July 3, 2014, and that of the second season from January 20 to April 20, 2015 on Syfy . From February 3, 2016, the series was broadcast in double episodes on the free TV station ProSieben Maxx .
