Helene "Helli" Louise floor (* 6. December 1907 in Basel , † 27. August 2017 ibid ) was a Swiss actress and radio host . From 1939 she was the first female news anchor in Switzerland.

life and career

Stehle grew up in Basel and trained as an actress in the 1920s at the Basel Conservatory with Oskar Wältin , Lucie Lissl and Rosalia Chladek . She then played at the Stadttheater Basel from 1929–1932 . From the late 1920s, at the latest from 1928, she worked at the Basel radio studio of the Swiss national broadcaster Beromünster . Stehle first worked for the radio play group at Studio Basel, where she recited poems or took part in radio plays. In addition, Stehle tried to gain a foothold as an actress on German stages.

After the outbreak of the Second World War , Stehle was permanently hired by the Basel radio studio and was the first female announcer and news anchor during the war, as her male colleagues were drafted into active service. After the war, Stehle stayed on as a radio announcer and was ultimately promoted to chief spokesperson. In this role, Stehle also trained young news anchors. In addition, she worked at various radio plays with and directed several well directed . Stehle was also repeatedly seen as an actress, for example in 1966 with Heinrich Gretler in De Tod uf em Oepfelbaum . In 1967 she retired.

Stehle was committed to the Basel dialect and the Swiss-German dialect in general. When she died at the age of 109, Stehle was the oldest living Swiss woman.
