Hellweg specifically

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In Hellweg Specifically, there is an exhibition project to track down the specific artistic creation in the Hellweg region makes for 1945th The multi-part series is dedicated to an important branch of modern and contemporary arts and crafts that has so far only rarely received attention in the regional focus.

The topicality and relevance of the works of regional artists such as Erich Lütkenhaus (1924–2010) and Gerhard Weber (1925–2013) in Hamm , KG Schmidt (1914–1987) in Bad Sassendorf , the British Gordon F. Turner (1944–1983) in Lippstadt and Carlernst Kürten (1921–2000) in Unna is particularly evident in dialogue with contemporary international positions. The series of exhibitions takes place at locations in the Hellweg region where concrete art was created, collected or conveyed. The project is generously funded by the art and culture promotion of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and by local supporters.

In the Hellweg region there has been a lively, concrete art production for decades, the quality of which does not have to shy away from international comparison. With this project, the artists from the region who faced modernism after the Second World War are given their rightful place in art history. The concrete, constructive development tendencies of modern art in their concentration on elementary pictorial means such as line, color, surface, volume and space are still generally perceived as bulky. To a not inconsiderable extent, this is a late consequence of the radical cultural policy of the National Socialists, which interrupted and prevented the corresponding tendencies in modern art. In this context, too, the project aims to contribute to giving concrete art from the Hellweg region the status it deserves and to gaining national recognition.

Project partners are the Ahlen Art Museum , the Art Museum Wilhelm Morgner -House Soest that Carl Ernst Kürten Foundation of the city of Unna , the Friends monastery Wedinghausen the city of Arnsberg , the Foundation Conceptual art / collection Schroth from Soest, the KG Schmidt -Archiv Bad Sassendorf , Foundation Kunstfonds Bonn , Maximilianpark Hamm , Hammer Künstlerbund and Lütkenhaus-Akademie Hamm / Kulturbrücke Hamm-Kaliscz .

The patron is the District President of Arnsberg, Dr. Gerd Bollermann took over.

Three catalog publications and a supplementary volume are devoted to the respective artistic positions and the interplay between the artists, also with a view to national and international events. Parallel to the exhibitions, educational offers and a diverse supporting program offer access to an understanding of specific art.
