Helmut Artzinger (born April 22, 1912 in Bergisch Gladbach ; † October 2, 1996 in Bruchsal ) was a German lawyer and politician ( CDU ).

Life

After attending elementary school and graduating from secondary school in Essen , Artzinger began studying law in Munich , Berlin and Münster . At the age of 18 he joined the NSDAP in 1930 ( membership number 281.503). In 1935 he finished his studies with the first state examination in law. In the same year he was arrested and held by the Gestapo or in a concentration camp for 15 months . From 1937 to 1940 he worked for the Evangelical Church Community in Essen-Altstadt, and then became an employee of a trust company in Mannheimand passed the tax advisor examination in 1941 . From 1941 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier , most recently with the rank of sergeant.

After the end of the war, Artzinger was again employed by the trust company in Mannheim until 1952, where he later became an authorized signatory . He was promoted to Dr. jur. doctorate and since 1956 was the head of personnel at an industrial company in Weinheim .

Artzinger had been a member of the CDU since 1948. In 1953 he became a council member of the city of Weinheim and in 1959 a member of the district council. He was a member of the German Bundestag from 1961 to 1976. He initially represented the Mannheim-Land constituency and from 1965 the Bruchsal – Karlsruhe-Land II constituency . From 1965 to 1977 he was also a member of the European Parliament .

In 1972 he was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
