Helmut L. Kronjäger
Helmut L. Kronjäger (born June 30, 1953 in Graz , Styria ; † September 24, 2014 there ) was an Austrian football player , coach (UEFA Pro license) and official . Until 2012 he worked as a sports director for the Styrian Football Association (StFV) . He was u. a. also active in the Kingdom of Bhutan , the Solomon Islands and Sri Lanka as well as assistant coach for various ÖFB junior national teams.
Life
Career as a player
Kronjäger began his playing career in 1965 and played for ESV Austria Graz , SK Sturm Graz , VfB Stuttgart Amateure, SC Stuttgart , Waagner Biro Graz, SV Straßgang Graz and SV Gratkorn .
Career as a trainer / functionary
Helmut L. Kronjäger began his coaching career in 1991 at SV Hitzendorf. Two years later he became a contract coach at Sturm Graz, where he a. a. worked on Ivica Osim's staff . In 1997 he became a junior trainer and merchandising manager at Austria Wien . In 1999, Heinz Hochhauser brought him to SV Ried as an assistant coach , where he was head coach a year later until he was released in spring 2001. In 2002 Kronjäger became sports director at the Styrian Football Association (until 2012). During this time he also worked as Hermann Stadler's assistant trainer in various ÖFB junior national teams, in 2007 he became team leader in the Kingdom of Bhutan, trainer trainer in the Solomon Islands and project supervisor in Sri Lanka.
Private
Helmut L. Kronjäger was married three times and had two children. In 2012 he was diagnosed with lymph node cancer , which led to the end of his professional career. In April 2014 his biography Helmut L. Kronjäger appeared: The L stands for life . As a result of the disease, he died in September 2014 at the age of 61.
In 2012 he was awarded the Badge of Honor by the City of Graz.
