Helmut Leonhardt

Helmut Leonhardt (born July 14, 1918 in Stuttgart , † March 21, 2000 in Eckernförde ) was a German anatomist and university professor.

Life

As the son of an administrative officer, Leonhardt graduated from high school in Stuttgart in 1937. Then he moved to the Reich Labor Service and the Wehrmacht . He began to study medicine at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen in 1939 and was active in the Corps Franconia Tübingen . As an inactive , he moved to the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , where he joined a student company . After passing the state examination in 1944 in Tübingen he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD . Immediately afterwards he got into the German-Soviet war . He became a prisoner of war and was a doctor in a prison camp in Riga . Dismissed after two and a half years, he went to the anatomy department of the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen in 1948 . He completed his habilitation with Albert Hasselwander and Karl Friedrich Bauer in 1953. In 1956 , he was a private lecturer with Konstantin Scharenberg at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor . As in 1951, he was at the Naples Zoological Station in 1954, 1955 and 1959 . In 1959 he was appointed associate professor . In 1964 he went to the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel as a prosector . With Wolfgang Bargmann he devoted himself to neuroanatomy . As the successor to Ernst Rolshoven , he followed the call of the Saarland University to its chair for anatomy in 1968 . As the successor to Bargmann, he returned to Kiel University in 1974. In 1975, together with Werner Kahle and Werner Platzer, he published a widely distributed and repeatedly published anatomical pocket atlas. out. In the twelve years of his professorship he received seven habilitation degrees and six appointments to a chair. He worked at the Institute for Medical and Pharmaceutical Examination Questions .
