Helmut Nanz

Helmut Nanz (born June 20, 1943 in Stuttgart ; † April 15, 2020 there ) was a German entrepreneur and has been CEO of the Nanz Group since 1982 . Since 1989 Nanz has chaired the supervisory board of the Helmut Nanz Foundation he founded.

biography

After studying business administration in Munich and Nuremberg, which he completed in 1968, Nanz volunteered at a large Canadian supermarket group. In 1969 Helmut Nanz joined the family's grocery store, the Nanz Group , as a member of the management team . In 1992 the company had 11,000 employees with a food turnover of 2.3 billion marks. The approximately 400 Nanz stores were sold to the Edeka Group in 1996 .

Nanz was honorary consul of India from 1983 to 1999 and then treasurer and chairman of the board of trustees of the German-Indian Society. V. He was a member of the supervisory board of Fielmann AG and Reiff GmbH . In the cultural field he was chairman of the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra , was a member of the board of trustees of the Ludwigsburg Castle Festival , the Stuttgart Bach Academy and chairman of the board of the Olaf Gulbransson Society in Tegernsee . Since December 2004 he was President of the DRF Luftrettung . He was also a member of the board of trustees of the Friends of the University of Music and Theater in Munich , a member of the advisory board of LBBW Immobilien Group and a member of the advisory board of Mannheimer AG Holding . He was a member of the administrative board of the Unibund of the University of Hohenheim and a member of the supervisory board of records.de AG in Munich. Nanz was a collector of music autographs .

Since 1996 Nanz has operated 18 centers for outpatient rehabilitation under the holding nanz-medico together with co-partners (e.g. Bernd Kahnert), meanwhile 2 centers in Berlin, Stuttgart-Mitte, Stuttgart-Cannstatt, Mannheim, Tübingen, Trier, Mainz, Landstuhl , Ulm, Bielefeld, Gelsenkirchen, Mülheim, Paderborn, Regensburg, Munich and 2 centers in Ludwigshafen. Other well-known business focuses were international real estate development and management as well as a spirits and beverages wholesaler (Benz wines) in Stuttgart-Wangen. The business operations of Benz Weine GmbH & Co KG, most recently owned by his son Helmut Cornelius Nanz, were sold at the end of 2017.

Nanz was married. On April 15, 2020, Nanz died at the age of 76 during the COVID-19 pandemic in Germany as a result of a SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Awards

On July 11, 2006, he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his extensive voluntary work in the cultural, economic and social fields .
