Helmut Peukert

Helmut Peukert (born December 12, 1934 in Gablonz an der Neisse , Czechoslovakia ) is a German pedagogue and theologian and professor emeritus for systematic educational science at the University of Hamburg .

Life

Helmut Peukert studied Catholic theology , philosophy , psychology and educational science at the universities of Tübingen, Munich, Innsbruck and Münster. His theological teacher was Karl Rahner . Peukert was assistant to Johann Baptist Metz , with whom he received his doctorate in 1976 at the University of Münster with a thesis on the scientific theory of theology . The dissertation, on which Peukert had worked for eleven years, was published under the title Philosophy of Science - Theory of Action - Fundamental Theology. Analysis of the approach and status of theological theory formation .

From 1973 to 1978 Peukert taught as an academic councilor for Catholic theology and from 1978 to 1986 as an academic councilor for educational science at the University of Münster. In 1986 he completed his habilitation with a study on "Education and Reason" in educational science at the University of Münster. From 1986 to 1999, Peukert was Professor of Systematic Education at the University of Hamburg. In 1995 he taught as visiting professor for Philosophy of Education at Columbia University in New York.
