Helmut Preißler (born December 16, 1925 in Cottbus , † December 20, 2010 in Bad Saarow ) was a German lyric poet , writer and re-poet .

biography

Helmut Preißler was born in Cottbus in 1925. He completed an apprenticeship or a degree in road and civil engineering and water management. He was a soldier during the war and was a prisoner of war in Belgium until the end of 1947. After a course for new teachers , he worked as a teacher in Cottbus until 1955. This was followed by studies and assistance at the Institute for Literature in Leipzig . From 1958 to 1965 he was cultural functionary of the FDGB in the EKO Eisenhüttenstadt . From 1965 to 1981 he worked at the Kleist Theater in Frankfurt (Oder) , from 1982 to 1987 in the culture department at the city council. From 1966 to 1975 he was the poetry editor of ndl magazine . Since 1975 Helmut Preißler lived in Bad Saarow. He died there on December 20, 2010.

He published poems, worked as a retoucher and editor, was a children's book author and worked for radio and theater.

Preißler was a staunch supporter of the SED and published a. a. the poem "Nobody gets through, comrades", which defended the construction of the Berlin Wall.

In addition, he served since 1960 under the code name "Anton" as an unofficial employee of the Ministry for State Security of the GDR .
