Helmut Türk (diplomat)

Helmut Türk (born May 3, 1920 in Untermaßfeld ) is a former German diplomat . From 1980 to 1985 he was Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Rangoon , Myanmar .

Life

After graduating from high school in 1938, he worked in the labor service as well as in military and military service until 1945. From 1946 to 1949 he studied law and graduated in 1950 with the first state examination in law. This was followed by five years of legal preparatory service and parallel studies in administrative sciences from 1952 to 1954, including a stay at Tulane University in New Orleans .

In 1953, Türk was promoted to Dr. jur. doctorate, followed by the 2nd state examination in law in 1955. He then worked at the Federal Ministry of Economics until 1958 and finally stepped in April of this year. J. joined the Foreign Service . After training as an attaché , he became legation secretary in 1959. From 1959 to 1962 he was the permanent representative of the ambassador at the German embassy in Monrovia , Liberia . In 1961 he was appointed Legation Councilor.

This was followed by an assignment as a consul at the Consulate General in Zurich (1962–1965) and service in the Foreign Office (1965–1970). During this time, he was promoted to Legation Council 1st Class (1966) and Lecturer Legation Council (1968). From 1970 to 1976 he was Consul General in Sydney . After his return to the Foreign Office, he was promoted to lecturing councilor 1st class and was head of division in the legal department before he took up the post of ambassador in Rangoon in 1980.

Helmut Türk is married and has three children.
