Helmuth Stapff (born December 16, 1901 in Annaberg ; † August 9, 1978 ) was a native singer and dialect collector of the western Ore Mountains , who published several song collections and anthologies on this topic.

life and work

Helmuth Stapff received his early musical training at the age of 10 to 14 as a carol singer at St. Anne's Church in his hometown. After attending the teachers' seminar in Annaberg, he took up his first job in Neudorf . Encounters with the native singer Anton Günther inspired Stapff to cultivate the Ore Mountain dialect song. From 1928 Stapff appeared at home evenings of the Erzgebirgsverein, initially alone as a singer and reciter. In 1936 he met the sisters Martha "Marthel" and Emmy Pimpl, who were successful singers as Grünhainer Pimpl-Maad . The joint performances soon led to the fact that the three as a mixed Dreigesang ( soprano , alto and baritone joined forces) and the fixed name Helmuth-Stapff group accepted. Together with the Caldarelli siblings and the Zschorlau nightingales , the group was at the forefront of the Ore Mountains singing movement. Her core repertoire included a. the songs ' s Raachermannel , De Peremett and Der Bargma by Erich Lang . Emmy left after their wedding in 1948 and was initially replaced by her sister-in-law Magda Reinwarth, who in turn was replaced a few years later by Else Seidel. Stapff and Marthel Pimpl married 1954. 1955 moved to West Germany Stapff and lived ten years Gräfenberg , then in Buckenhofen (now Forchheim ). In the west, too, the Helmuth Stapff group continued its vocal activity until the spring of 1978.
