Heinrich von Nassau-Ouwerkerk (Dutch Hendrik van Nassau-Ouwerkerk ; English Henry de Nassau, Lord Overkirk ; * December 1640 in The Hague ; † October 18, 1708 in Roeselare ), lord of Ouwerkerk and Woudenberg , was a Dutch military man.

Heinrich was the son of Ludwig von Nassau-Beverweerd , an illegitimate son of Prince Moritz of Orange . The name refers to Ouwerkerk Castle on the Zeeland island of Duiveland .

He entered Dutch service at a very young age and distinguished himself in the Dutch War from 1672 to 1678. On August 14, 1678, he rescued Prince Wilhelm III at Mons . of Orange , was naturalized in 1688 when this prince ascended the British throne, and in 1689 in England, and was given command of the English cavalry. At the beginning of the War of the Spanish Succession , he led the Dutch troops. In 1704 the states appointed him Field Marshal General. He then took part in four more campaigns under Marlborough and Prince Eugene and died in 1708 in the camp near Roeselare .

Marriage and offspring

He was married to Frances van Aersen-Sommelsdijk (around 1638–1719 / 20), daughter of Cornelius van Aersen, Lord of Sommelsdijk . He had the following children with her:
