Henning Christoph Gerdes (born September 27, 1665 in Wusterhusen , † May 14, 1723 in Greifswald ) was a German professor of law.

Life

Henning Christoph Gerdes was born as the son of the Wusterhusener pastor Georg Gerdes and Margareta Caden. After the early death of the father, the mother moved to Greifswald , where the son received private lessons and was prepared for his studies by the future professor of history Jacob Henning .

In 1684 Gerdes began studying law with his uncle Friedrich Gerdes . He also heard from Jackob Balthasar and Petrus von Mascow . In 1690 Gerdes moved to the Viadrina in Frankfurt (Oder) . Three years later he went on an educational trip through Germany, Holland and Belgium with his brother David Johann. In 1694 he held the Inaugural disputation before his uncle. From 1700 he represented Konrad Friedrich in his legal professorship and became in-house counsel at the university.

In 1713 he received the full professorship after the death of Konrad Friedrich. A year later he became assessor and in 1720 director of the royal consistory .

In 1717 Gerdes received his doctorate in both rights.
