Henning Höppner

Henning Höppner (born May 5, 1949 in Süderlügum ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in 1968, Höppner did his military service and then began studying information design at the Muthesius Art College in Kiel in 1970 , which he completed in 1974 as a graduate designer. He then studied art history , education and folklore from 1975 to 1982 at the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . In 1983 he received his doctorate here as Dr. phil. with the work "The building history of the Jakobikirche zu Lübeck " . Höppner then worked for the Plön district until 2002 . He initially headed the district adult education center and in 1987 became a district conservationist . In 1990 he took over the management of the Office for School and Culture of the Plön district and in 1998 he became head of the department for school, culture, social affairs, youth and sport.

Henning Höppner is married and has two children. He designed a large part of the coats of arms and flags of the offices and communities in the Plön district.

Political party

Höppner joined the SPD as a schoolboy in 1967 and has been a member of the board of the SPD district association in Plön since 1999.

In 2005, Höppner was the SPD's candidate for the office of district administrator of the Plön district. In the runoff election, however, he was unable to prevail against the incumbent Volkram Gebel (CDU).

MP

Höppner was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament from 2000 to 2012 . Here he was a member of the executive committee of the SPD parliamentary group between 2002 and 2011 and was also chairman of the parliamentary group's working group on education, science, research and culture . Since 2005 he has also been deputy chairman of the Environment and Agriculture Committee.
