Henning Kiene (born July 21, 1959 in Essen-Werden ) is an Evangelical Lutheran theologian .

Live and act

Henning Kiene grew up in the east of Hamburg. He attended a Waldorf school , the Rudolf Steiner School in Hamburg-Wandsbek. After graduating from high school, he studied Protestant theology and general rhetoric at the Universities of Göttingen , Tübingen and Hamburg . From 1987 to 1988 Kiene was able to complete the vicariate in the Preetz seminary and the parish of Plön / Holstein. He was ordained with his year in the main church St. Jacobi in Hamburg in the North Elbian Evangelical Lutheran Church .

After the vicariate, Henning Kiene was sent to serve in the St. Jürgen parish in Flensburg as part of the people's missionary project “pastor evangelist” . In 1990 he changed as pastor z. A. to the St. Marien Church in Rendsburg . In 1993 he was elected as pastor for life on the North Sea island of Amrum . Kiene was able to make himself better known through the publication of some Christian distribution pamphlets in the Kreuz-Verlag and the " Agentur des Rauhen Haus " as well as as an author and speaker in the church programs of the North German Radio . As part of his work on the island, he had to organize the offers of tourist pastoral care and created a church summer academy.

In 2002 Henning Kiene was elected provost of the Süderdithmarschen parish with the official seat in Meldorf . After three years in Meldorf, he applied for the post of chief pastor at the Hamburg Michel in 2005, the “solid island pastor” lost to the “brilliant theologian” Alexander Röder .

From 2007 to 2009, as chairman of the steering group, he led the merger of the church districts in Dithmarschen. Kiene brought the supraregional church services together with the other church districts on the west coast of Schleswig-Holstein under the umbrella of the Evangelical Regional Center Breklum (ERW).

On May 1, 2009 he became the first provost of Ev.-Luth. Dithmarschen church district . His office was the old pastorate on Heider Marktplatz. The St. Jürgen Church in Heide was his sermon place.

In 2009 he successfully applied for the position of creative director of the Verein Andere Zeiten in Hamburg. As editor-in-chief for the offers of the ecumenically oriented association, he was only able to hold onto from October 2009 to September 2010. During this time, Henning Kiene was on leave from the service of the North Elbe Church. He then found a job in the Hanover Church Office, where he works in the Reform Process project office of the Evangelical Church in Germany.
