Henning von Heydebreck

Henning Friedrich Sigismund von Heydebreck (born June 2, 1828 in Parnow , Köslin district , † September 22, 1904 in Potsdam ) was a Prussian lieutenant general and most recently the commander of the 3rd Cavalry Brigade.

Life

origin

He came from the noble Pomeranian family von Heydebreck . His parents were the master of Parnow Karl Friedrich August von Heydebreck (* 1803; † 1873) and his wife Ulrike, born von Hellermann (* 1806; † 1880), a daughter of the district administrator Wilhelm Casimir von Hellermann .

Career

He came to Berlin as a cadet on January 3, 1843 . On May 2, 1846, he came to the 9th Infantry Regiment as a porter officer and from there on June 25, 1846 he moved to the 2nd Cuirassier Regiment . There he was appointed second lieutenant on February 16, 1847. As such, he took part in the first Schleswig War in 1848 . He fought near Schleswig and in the bombardment of Fredericia.

From October 1, 1855 to September 30, 1857 he was assigned to the military riding school. After his return he was promoted to Premier-Lieutenant on December 22, 1857, and on April 1, 1859, he was assigned to the 2nd Heavy Landwehr Cavalry Regiment as a squadron leader. There he was appointed Rittmeister on June 30, 1859. He joined the 4th Combined Uhlan Regiment on May 12, 1860, but was released from his command on July 1, 1860 and transferred to the military riding school as a teacher on October 1, 1860. On June 26, 1864, he was transferred to the 3rd Cuirassier Regiment , leaving his command , on May 7, 1866 he was relieved of his command and added to the 9th Uhlan Regiment . During the German War he was from May 7th to November 4th 1866 leader of the regiment's replacement squadron. On October 30, 1866, he was assigned to the 9th Uhlan Regiment as squadron chief. Promoted to major on November 14, 1869, he was transferred to the 12th Dragoon Regiment on June 18, 1869 as a regular staff officer.

During the Franco-Prussian War he fought at Spichern , Vionville , Gravelotte , Beaune-la-Rolande , Orleans and Le Mans . He was also at the siege of Metz and the battles at Conneree, Woippy, Nancray, Montbarrois, Gien-St.Amand, Villeporcher and Villechaude. For this he received the Iron Cross 2nd class on October 4, 1870 .

After the war, on October 26, 1872, he was entrusted with the command of the 12th Dragoon Regiment and was placed à la suite of the regiment. On March 22, 1873 he was promoted to lieutenant colonel and confirmed as commander on April 15, 1873. He was promoted to colonel on July 3, 1875 and awarded the Order of the Crown, Second Class, on September 18, 1880 . He joined the 4th Cavalry Brigade as a commander on March 12, 1881; he was placed a la suite of the regiment and promoted to major general on October 18, 1881. Then he came on July 5, 1883 as a commander in the 3rd Cavalry Brigade. On January 20, 1884 he received the Order of the Red Eagle, 2nd class with oak leaves. He was then on 11 March 1887 the character as a lieutenant general and board for discussion provided. Then he received the star for the Crown Order on September 17, 1887 and died on September 22, 1904 in Potsdam.
