Theodor von Knobelsdorff

Theodor Friedrich Alexander von Knobelsdorff (born December 29, 1817 in Gumbinnen , † December 2, 1879 in Guhrau ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

Theodor was a son of the Prussian steward and captain Joseph von Knobelsdorff (1772–1839) and his wife Juliane, née von Tippelskirch (1781–1829).

Career

After visiting the Cadet Houses in Potsdam and Berlin , Knobelsdorff was transferred to the 38th Infantry Regiment (6th Reserve Regiment) of the Prussian Army on August 12, 1835 as a Second Lieutenant . From March 1842 to May 1846 he was in command as adjutant and accounting officer in the Landwehr battalion in Wohlau . In mid-June 1846 he was appointed adjutant of the 1st battalion and in this position Knobelsdorff rose to prime lieutenant at the end of October 1848 . During the suppression of the Baden Revolution , he took part in the battles near Großsachsen , Sinsheim and Gernsbach . On November 1, 1851 Knobelsdorff was commanded as a company commander in the Landwehr battalion of his regiment, advanced to captain in mid-September 1852 and was appointed company commander on November 11, 1854 . With the promotion to major Knobelsdorff received on July 1, 1860 command of the 1st Battalion and rose in this capacity on June 18, 1865 to lieutenant colonel .

As such, he took part in the war against Austria in 1866 . After his regiment commander Max von Witzleben was seriously wounded near Skalitz , Knobelsdorff took over the leadership of the regiment and was awarded the Red Eagle Order III for his work in the Battle of Königgrätz . Excellent with swords. When he was appointed commander of the 7th Brandenburg Infantry Regiment No. 60 , he was transferred to Wriezen on March 5, 1867 and promoted to colonel on April 18, 1867 . Under awarding of the Crown Order II. Class and the permission to wear his regiment uniform was Knobelsdorff on 12 April 1870 board for disposition made.

For the duration of the mobile relationship on the occasion of the war against France , Knobelsdorff was in 1870/71 the commander of the Landwehr occupation regiment in Cologne. After his departure he received the character of major general on May 2, 1875 and died on December 2, 1879 in Guhrau.

family

Knobelsdorff married on May 21, 1855 in Guhrau Agnes von Köckritz (1825-1906). Their daughter Elisabeth (* 1865) emerged from the marriage and married Ferdinand von Gersdorff in 1901 .
