Max von Witzleben

Hans Max von Witzleben (born August 13, 1812 in Potsdam , † November 27, 1888 in Stephansstift ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

He came from the Thuringian noble family von Witzleben and was the eldest son of the later Prussian Lieutenant General Konstantin von Witzleben and his wife Johanna Rudolfine Luitgarde, born von Bischoffwerder (1794–1869). She was a daughter of the Prussian Lieutenant General Hans Rudolf von Bischoffwerder and Wilhelmine Katharine, born von Tarrach (1757–1833), and a sister of the Prussian Lieutenant General and commander of the 11th Cavalry Brigade Ferdinand von Bischoffwerder .

Military career

Witzleben was initially a cadet in Berlin . On 10 August 1831 he was as Portepeefähnrich the 1st Guards Regiment walk the Prussian Army transferred.
