Henricus de Segusio
Henricus de Segusio (Heinrich von Susa), called Hostiensis (* shortly before 1200 in Susa ; † October 25 or November 6, 1271 in Lyon ) was a canonist and cardinal of the Catholic Church .
Belonging to the De Bartolomeis family in Susa, which is assumed in some editions of his works in the 16th century, is not proven by medieval sources. Henricus studied both rights in Bologna and was ordained a priest before 1233. In 1235 he became prior of the cathedral chapter of Antibes , and in 1244 he was appointed bishop of Sisteron . From 1250 until he was promoted to cardinal he was Archbishop of Embrun in France . Pope Urban IV appointed him Cardinal Bishop of Ostia on May 22, 1262 . Since 1236 he has been a diplomat for popes like Innocent IV and kings like Henry III. been active from England.
Hostiensis was one of the most outstanding canonists of his time. He wrote several works, including a .: Lectura in Decretales Gregorii IX , Summa super titulis Decretalium (i.e. Summa aurea ) and Lectura in Decretales Innocentii IV . A special concern of his was the representation of the aequitas in church law. It is not certain whether he taught the decretals in Paris in 1239 .
