Norbert Brieskorn

Norbert Brieskorn SJ (born May 25, 1944 in Strasbourg ) is a German Jesuit and professor of legal philosophy at the University of Philosophy in Munich.

Life

Brieskorn first completed a law degree in Würzburg and Munich , which he completed in 1968 with the first state examination in law. He then became a member of the Jesuit order that same year . This was followed by studying philosophy in Pullach and Munich (1970–1972) and Catholic theology in Lyon and Paris (1972–1975). In 1975 he was ordained a priest , in 1980 he was promoted to Dr. iur. utr. PhD.

In 1980 Brieskorn began teaching at the University of Philosophy in Munich , initially as a lecturer, and from 1982 as a lecturer in legal and social philosophy . In 1985 he completed his habilitation at the Julius Maximilians University of Würzburg in the subjects of medieval and modern legal history , legal philosophy and canon law . He then stayed for 11 months in Latin America, where he studied the legal history of the colonial era and dealt with the philosophical approaches of Latin American and Spanish authors.

In 1994 the School of Philosophy appointed him full professor for legal philosophy, social philosophy and social ethics . Another research focus is dealing with the history of human rights and their justification.

In 2018 he became spiritual in the Munich mother house of the Sisters of Mercy of St. Vincent de Paul .

Since 1964 he has been a member of the Catholic student union KDStV Cheruscia Würzburg in the CV .
