Henriette Gärtner (* 1975 in Freudenstadt ) is a German pianist .

Henriette Gärtner was born in Freudenstadt and began playing the piano at the age of three. Two years later she gave her first major concert in Stuttgart . She grew up in the district of Unterschwandorf in the community of Neuhausen ob Eck and graduated from the Martin-Heidegger-Gymnasium in Meßkirch .

Accompanied by the renowned “Festival Strings Lucerne” chamber orchestra, the eight-year-old attracted international attention in 1983 when she performed at the Lucerne Festival . At that time, the pianist, now known in Germany as a child prodigy, also gave concerts with the Stuttgart Chamber Orchestra at the music festival in Colmar . In the following years, Henriette Gärtner won a number of piano competitions, most recently the International Masterplayers Competition in Lugano, Switzerland . She also practiced the sport of twirling , in which she was German champion in the solo freestyle discipline in 1995, after having won championships in the youth and duo categories in 1993 and 1994.

Henriette Gärtner supplemented her musical training with interpretation and master classes with personalities such as Rudolf Buchbinder, Viktor Merzhanov, Karl-Heinz Kämmerling , Christian Zacharias, Thomas Lange, Leslie Howard, Sergio Perticaroli, Günter Reinhold and Peter Feuchtwanger.

From 2001 to 2005 Henriette Gärtner studied at the Accademia Pianistica Internazionale Incontri col Maestro in Imola with Leonid Margarius, a student of Regina Horowitz . In addition to her international career as a pianist, Henriette Gärtner did her doctorate at the University of Konstanz in the field of movement physiology / biomechanics on the subject of the connection between sound, force and kinematics in piano playing - shown in works from piano literature (Dr. rer. Nat.) And concluded completed her doctorate with the overall grade summa cum laude (excellent) in July 2011.

In August 2013, Henriette Gärtner's dissertation was published as a book with the title Sound, Power and Kinematics in Piano Playing with the subtitle About their connection demonstrated in works from piano literature by the Wißner publishing house . The book includes a CD with audio samples.

Henriette Gärtner currently (2016) has a teaching position for music and medicine at the Trossingen University of Music .
