Henrike Naumann

Henrike Naumann (* 1984 in Zwickau ) is a German installation artist .

Life

Naumann studied stage and costume design at the Dresden University of Fine Arts and scenography at the Babelsberg Film University Konrad Wolf . She lives in Berlin.

Growing up in the youth culture of her hometown, which she felt was influenced by neo - Nazis , she deals with the history of right- wing terrorism and the aesthetics of everyday private spaces in her installations . She describes furniture as the medium of her choice. With a rapidly growing number of exhibitions, it received wide media coverage. She combines her artistic work with lecturing and teaching.

Works

  • Triangular Stories (2012) contrasts hedonistic and neo-Nazi youth culture in the nineties
  • Aufbau Ost (2016) is devoted to the transformation of the GDR and the integration of East and West Germany using everyday aesthetics
  • Das Reich (2017) shows right-wing extremist ideology and the movement of Reich citizens symbolized in a room installation
  • 2000 (2018) sets the Expo 2000 in relation to German-German reunification
  • 14 Words (2018) shows a former East German retail store with reference to the National Socialist Underground and its victims, most of whom were shot as self-employed in their own companies
  • DDR Noir (2018) exhibits works by her grandfather, the GDR graphic artist Karl Heinz Jakob, amid furniture from the post-reunification era
  • Eurotique (2018) at the Riga International Biennial of Contemporary Art
  • Ostalgie (2019)
