Henry Arne Hermansen (born April 13, 1921 in Lunner , Oppland , † January 18, 1997 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian cross-country skier and biathlete .

Henry Hermansen was a member of the IL i BUL ( Idrottslaget i Bondeungdomslaget ) association in Oslo. At the end of the 1940s and until the mid-1950s he was only active as a cross-country skier. He won the first medal at a national championship in 1949 with bronze over 17 km. The following year the Norwegian Association nominated him for the Nordic World Ski Championships in Lake Placid , where he won the bronze medal in the 4 × 10 km relay with his relay colleagues Martin Stokken , Eilert Dahl and Kristian Bjørn . In 1950 and 1951 he was the Norwegian champion with the cross-country relay of his club, in 1954 the relay was third. Also in 1951 he won another bronze medal over the 17 km distance. Towards the end of the fifties he turned to the emerging biathlon sport, was again fifth in the national championship in the cross-country relay in 1958, and in 1959 was the first Norwegian champion in the biathlon over 20 km. He took part in the second biathlon world championship in 1959 , where he reached tenth place in the individual and finished third with Knut Wold and Ivar Skøgsrud in the then unofficial relay competition. He achieved the same placement with the 1962 season , this time with Jon Istad and Olav Jordet , he finished the individual competition in fourteenth. Also in 1962 he was third at the Norwegian Championships in the individual behind his two competitors from the World Championship relay.

When biathlon premiered at the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley , Hermansen was part of the Norwegian team. He was the oldest participant in the 20 km individual, which was the only competition held, only Adolf Wiklund was also 38 years old. Although he only achieved the 20th best running time as a former cross-country skier, he was able to place tenth with four penalties due to his relatively good shooting result. After the second shooting he was even second and by the fourth shooting Hermansen had hit all the targets and was still on the bronze rank before he fell back with eight penalty minutes after the four misses.
