Henry Joseph Thünemann
Henry Joseph Thünemann OSFS (born July 22, 1898 in Kalkputs , † August 18, 1965 in Pella (North Cape) ) was Bishop of Keimoes .
Life
Henry Joseph Thünemann joined the Order of the Oblates of St. Francis of Sales and was ordained a priest on August 15, 1922 .
On July 9, 1940, the Pope appointed him Vicar Apostolic of Keimoes and Titular Bishop of Adrasus . The episcopal ordination took place on October 3rd of the same year by the Apostolic Delegate in the South African Union Bernard Gijlswijk OP ; Co -consecrators were Joseph Klemann OSFS, Vicar Apostolic of Greater Namaland , and Franziskus Xaver Hennemann SAC , Vicar Apostolic of Cape Town .
Pius XII. raised the Apostolic Vicariate to a diocese on January 11, 1951 and he was thus appointed the first bishop of Keimoes. John XXIII appointed him after his resignation as diocesan bishop on September 12, 1962 titular bishop of Corydala .
