Herbert Roth Prize

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Herbert Roth Prize was named after the Thuringian composer and musician Herbert Roth (1926–1983), which was awarded once a year to successful young folk music artists between 1996 and 2011.

The award ceremony took place in Suhl , Herbert Roth's hometown, with an award in the categories of young groups , young duos , young soloists , young moderators , young folk music and traditional awards. The vote has taken place since 2008 through the vote of the audience and audience, previously through a jury consisting of celebrities and experts. The award ceremony was broadcast by the MDR . The trophy itself was made in the Sitzendorfer Porzellanmanufaktur and showed a harmonica player and the instrument played by Herbert Roth.

The MDR, as the lead producer, decided in 2012 to broadcast the “Big Show of Christmas Carols” instead of the award ceremony and thus no longer to award the award.
