Herbert Eichhorn (born July 12, 1921 in Krebes ; † August 24, 2000 in Sommerfeld ) was a German accountant , farmer , graduate in political science and a founding member of the Democratic Peasant Party of Germany (DBD).

Life

Herbert Eichhorn completed an apprenticeship as an agricultural accountant from 1936 to 1939. In 1939 he joined the NSDAP . Eichhorn became a soldier in World War II .

From 1945 to 1947 he worked as a farm worker and was a member of the municipal council and the commission for the implementation of the democratic land reform . In 1947 Eichhorn joined the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB) and was a founding member of the Democratic Peasant Party in Germany in 1948. In addition, from 1947 to 1950 he was secretary in the Plauen district association or the state secretariat of the Association of Mutual Farmers Aid (VdgB). In 1950 he became regional manager of the DBD in Saxony and held this office until 1952.

From 1952 to 1955 Eichhorn was a member of the Leipzig District Assembly and deputy chairman of the Leipzig District Council and from 1955 a member of the DBD Presidium and a member of the Presidium of the Association of Mutual Farmers Aid. From 1955 to 1962 he was secretary of the Central Association of Mutual Farmers Aid and from 1955 to 1968 a member of the Central Revision Commission.

From 1963 Eichhorn was a member of the Presidium and Secretariat of the National Council of the National Front . In 1965 he obtained the qualification of a "state-certified farmer".

From 1968 he was a member of the cooperative council of the Association of Allotment Gardeners, Settlers and Small Animal Breeders (VKSK) and studied at the Academy for Political Science and Law in Potsdam-Babelsberg from 1970 to 1973 with a degree in political science . In 1970 he became a member of the Presidium of the VKSK, in 1975 a member of the Presidium of the GDR - Africa Friendship Society and in 1979 a member of the Central Association of the Society for the Preservation of Monuments in the GDR Cultural Association . Furthermore, from 1971 he was a member of the People's Chamber and deputy chairman of the budget and finance committee.

Eichhorn was awarded, among other things, the Patriotic Order of Merit in gold, silver and bronze , the banner of Labor Level I , and the GDR Medal of Merit.

He was married and had a daughter.
