Sommerfeld is a district of the city of Kremmen in the north of Brandenburg .

Sommerfeld is located at the natural transition from the forest area of ​​the Rüthnicker Heide to the Rhinluch . The Kremmen – Meyenburg railway runs west of the village . The Kremmer Damm runs to the south . The residential areas Alter Hof and Sana-Kliniken belong to the district . Sommerfeld borders the Beetz district in the north and east, the Hohenbruch district in the east and the Kremmen district in the south and west .

Sommerfeld was 1242 Sommerfeldt first mentioned in documents as the village with 40 hoofs the Cistercian monastery Lehnin was suitable. From 1318 to 1541 it was owned by the Himmelpfort monastery , a subsidiary of Lehnin. In 1541 the Himmelpfort monastery was secularized and its property pledged . In 1557 the former monastery property was finally given by Elector Joachim II of Brandenburg to his confidante Adam von Trott as an inheritance . Sommerfeld subsequently formed part of the Badingen and Himmelpfort rule . By 1574 at the latest there was a jug in the village. In 1583 a windmill was built.

In 1727 the rulership of Badingen and Himmelpfort fell to the Prussian state and Sommerfeld was then administered by various sovereign offices : until 1759 by the office of Badingen , until 1763 by the office of Zehlendorf , by 1819 by the office of Friedrichsthal , until 1834 by the office of Vehlefanz and up for the abolition of the manorial rule in 1872 by the Oranienburg office . In addition, in the 16th and 17th centuries , the von Redern zu Beetz family had various rights to compulsory labor and taxes from Sommerfeld, which fell to the Oranienburg office in 1655 and were administered together with the rest of the village from 1759.

In 1816/18 Sommerfeld came from the Glien-Löwenberg district of the Mark Brandenburg to the new Osthavelland district of the province of Brandenburg . In 1840 at the latest there was a peat cut in Sommerfeld. On a map of the same year, the place has the structure of a street village . In 1860 there were two steam screw mills , two grain mills and a brewery in Sommerfeld .

In 1898/99 the Beetz-Sommerfeld stop was created on the Kremmen – Meyenburg railway line.

In 1900, Sommerfeld formed a rural community with an area of ​​1541 ha. In 1939 there were 117 agricultural and forestry holdings, one of which had an area of ​​over 100 ha and 24 holdings of 20 to 100 ha each. In 1947, 614 hectares of land were expropriated as part of the land reform in the Soviet occupation zone . An agricultural production cooperative was founded in 1953.

Since the administrative reform of 1952 Sommerfeld belonged to the circle Oranienburg the district Potsdam . From 1992 to 2001, Sommerfeld was administered by the Kremmen office and has been part of the Oberhavel district since 1993 . In 2001 the Kremmen office was dissolved and Sommerfeld merged with six other communities to form the new town of Kremmen. Since then, Sommerfeld has been a district.

The Sommerfeld Church is a massive and plastered building from 1913, which is based on the Baroque style. In the district is the listed building ensemble of the Hellmuth-Ulrici-Klinik, built between 1912 and 1914 as the Waldhaus Charlottenburg lung sanatorium . The Sommerfeld sewing machine museum has existed since 2008 .
