History and related places

The Oranienburg office was formed in 1485, at that time still under the name of Amt Bötzow, when Elector Johann Cicero managed to finally repurchase the rule of Bötzow after frequent pledges. However, Elector Friedrich Wilhelm had to pledge the office of Bötzow in 1642 before he could redeem it in 1650 and give it to his wife Luise Henriette von Oranien . In 1652 it was renamed Amt Oranienburg. The office grew more and more through further acquisitions. In 1719 the Vehlefanz office was split off, and the Bötzow and Zehlendorf offices were separated in 1745 (later renamed Friedrichsthal ). The official seat of the new Vehlefanz Office was initially in Groß-Ziethen and was only moved to Vehlefanz Castle in 1723 . In 1786 a new office building was built. In 1832, the remtamt and police administration was initially transferred to the Oranienburg office on an interim basis, and the works came to the Bärenklau remontedepot . In 1834 the Vehlefanz office was finally dissolved. Most places came to the Oranienburg office, a few to the Spandau office . In 1770, jurisdiction had to be transferred to the Spandau Justice Office.
