Office Wriezen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wriezen office , also called Bruchamt Wriezen, was an electoral Brandenburg , later a royal Prussian domain office with its seat in the city of Wriezen ( Märkisch-Oderland district , Brandenburg ). The Wriezen Office was merged with the Freienwalde Office in 1821 (based in Wriezen). The name Bruchamt comes from the fact that the area covered large parts of the northern Oderbruch.

history

The Wriezen office emerged from the sovereign Bailiwick of Wriezen. The villages Alt-Kietz, Alt-Lewin, Alt-Medewitz and Alt-Trebbin have been part of this since ancient times . The area covered large parts of the northern Oderbruch. The name Bruchamt is documented as early as 1433. In the 18th century the Oderbruch was ameliorated and numerous new colonies (also) established on official territory. The official area also extended into the Neumark, since the Oder river at that time was further to the west. By draining the Oderbruch, a new Oder bed was dug, which was further east. As a result, a number of Neumark villages came to lie west of the Oder.

The customs office was connected to the Bruchamt until 1737, which was separated from the domain office that year. In 1738 the domain office was leased to the March Commissarius Richter. The judiciary was administered by a judicial commissioner appointed by the general tenant of the office. In 1770 the Wriezen domain justice office was set up, which was responsible for the offices of Freienwalde, Kienitz and Wriezen. Around 1830 it was called Rent and Police Office Wriezen-Freienwalde.

The ship mill near Wriezen

A ship mill also belonged to the Wriezen office in the 18th century. On April 28, 1712, the Wriezen office approved the construction of a ship mill by the mill master Ernst Knape on an arm of the (old) Oder near Wriezen, the so-called Morinichen. This arm of the Oder is dry today and has completely disappeared. Guests were the villages of Kietz (today Altkietz near Wriezen), Lewin (today Altlewin), Mädewitz (today Altmädewitz) and Trebbin (today Alttrebbin). Apparently the construction was completed quickly. After three years of free time, from 1716 he had to pay two Wispel rye a year as a lease to the Wriezen office. On February 2, 1729, Bartholomäus Becker acquired the ship mill with chains, anchor and house for 800 thalers. But already in the same year the ship mill sank and Becker had to ask the office for three free years so that he could lift and repair the mill again. An average of 140 wispel rye was ground each year. When the Oder floods in 1736, the ship mill was swept away. The ship's mill was damaged in the water for three and a half months. The repatriation, repairs and maintenance took another four months. In 1742 the Bruchamt Wriezen ordered the ship mill to be relocated from Morinichen to the Mädewitzer Oder. The office feared that the newly built groynes on Morinichen could be damaged by the ship mill. However, due to the heavy ship traffic and especially the timber rafting, trouble-free operation was not possible at this berth. The miller probably moved the mill back to the old anchorage. The dispute dragged on for several years until the office forcibly relocated the mill to the Mädewitzer Oder in 1746. Only a little later the miller brought the mill back to its old berth in Morinichen. The office tried again to move the mill back to the Mädewitzer mill. Ultimately the office gave in and the mill stayed in Morinichen. At the end of 1754, the ship miller Bartholomäus Becker died. The following year the mill sank and was never rebuilt. The heirs had a windmill built instead of the ship's mill.
