Herbert Frankenhauser (born July 23, 1945 in Munich ; † May 6, 2020 ) was a German politician ( CSU ). From 1990 to 2013 he was a member of the Bundestag ( Bundestag constituency Munich-East ) and finally Deputy Chairman of the Budget Committee.

Life and work

Frankenhauser completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk and then worked at the Mercedes-Benz AG branch in Munich. He was honorary president of the German Institute for Pure Beer e. V.

Herbert Frankenhauser was Catholic , married and the father of a daughter.

Political activity

Frankenhauser joined the CSU in 1965.

From 1972 to 1991 he was a member of the Munich city council and was chairman of the CSU city council from 1982 to 1991.

Since 1990 he has been a member of the German Bundestag and from November 2005 deputy chairman of the budget committee . Herbert Frankenhauser has always entered the Bundestag with a direct mandate from the Munich-East constituency. In the 2009 Bundestag election , he received 36.3% of the first votes . His successor in the constituency was the 28-year-old Wolfgang Stefinger (CSU) with 44.7% of the first votes in the federal election on September 22, 2013 .

In 2003 he was elected by the Bundestag as the German representative in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe . At the same time, the election of the German representative to the Assembly of the Western European Union took place.
