Here I Go Again is a 1982 song by British rock band Whitesnake , written by David Coverdale and Bernie Marsden . It appeared on the album Saints & Sinners .

history

There are two changes between the original version and the 1987 version. While the first version is held in blues rock , the 1987 version goes towards hard rock . Changes were also made in the lines of text. The original refrain is:

"An 'here I go again on my own
Goin 'down the only road I've ever known
Like a hobo I was born to walk alone "

In the 1987 version, the 3rd line was changed to:

"Like a drifter I was born to walk alone"

In an interview Coverdale claimed that he changed the final sentence of the chorus because he feared the listener might understand Homo (short for homosexual) instead of Hobo (American migrant worker) .

The first version was released worldwide on November 15, 1982 and became a top 20 hit in Norway. The re-recorded version of the song was released worldwide on February 3, 1987, and the version became a number one hit in the United States and Canada. In contrast to the original, this version became more commercially successful. The 1987 version could be heard in the episode Breaking Into New Worlds by American Dad . Also found this version in films like I Still Know What You Did Last Summer , Old School - We Don't Let Anything Burn , Fired Up! , The Fighter , Rock of Ages and It's Complicated ..! , but also used in the OC California series.

Music video

The music video for the 1987 version was directed by Marty Callner. In the plot of the video, Whitesnake play the song at a concert, while the actress Tawny Kitaen poses in a white negligee in front of two cars and in fadeouts she flirts with David Coverdale while he drives a Jaguar XJ .
