Herend ( German Herrendorf ) is a town in Veszprém County in western Hungary . The place is known for the famous Herend porcelain manufactory .

Herend is 341 meters above sea level.
history
Finds from the late Roman period show the origin of settlement in the area. In the Middle Ages, there were a number of smaller villages in the area of the present day town. During the Ottoman occupation between 1552 and 1566, the area was largely depopulated. After the Ottomans were expelled by the Habsburgs, there was resettlement and population growth between 1764 and 1847. A significant German-speaking minority was also there, most of which were expelled after the war.
