Heribert Heinemann

Heribert Heinemann (born December 21, 1925 in Euskirchen ; † September 3, 2012 in Bochum ) was a Roman Catholic clergyman , canonist and apostolic protonotary .

Life

Heinemann was ordained a priest by Josef Cardinal Frings on July 2, 1953 in Cologne . He first worked as a chaplain in Düssel, Post Dornap, then in Essen-Rüttenscheid. In 1960 he was at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich with a canonical work on the legal status of non-Catholic Christians and their reconciliation with the Church for Dr. iur. can. PhD . From 1962 on, Heinemann taught canon law at the Episcopal Seminary of St. Ludgerus in Essen. In 1967 he became the commissioner of the diocese of Essen , into which he was incardinated when it was founded in 1958 , for ecumenical questions and for the scientific and spiritual further education of the priests and vice-official at the diocesan court of the Ruhr diocese.

In 1969, he received a call to the University of Bochum to the chair of canon law. In 1991 he retired .

From 1978 to 2000 he was a non-resident cathedral chapter member of the Essen cathedral chapter . After the death of the first bishop of Essen, Franz Cardinal Hengsbach , Heinemann was appointed vicar general for 1992/1993 by his successor Hubert Luthe , with whom he was ordained a priest together .

Pope John Paul II honored the various achievements of the canon lawyer in 1993 with the appointment of Heinemann as Apostolic Protonotary, after this in 1968 in connection with the 82nd German Catholic Day in Essen by Pope Paul VI. was made chaplain of His Holiness ( Monsignor ). For many years he was also an advisor to the Canon Law Working Group of the German Bishops' Conference . Heinemann was a member of the board of trustees of the Institute for Research on Church History of the Diocese of Essen.

He was significantly involved in the beatification process of Nikolaus Groß .

From 1949 Heinemann was a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Rheno-Franconia Munich in the CV .
