Hermann Beeken

Hermann Beeken (born August 5, 1891 in London , † probably on February 13, 1942 in Obscha, Ilmensee area , USSR ) was a German farmer and politician ( DNVP ).

Life

Beeken came from an old Schleswig-Holstein family. After attending the Johanneum in Lübeck up to the age of 15, he completed an agricultural apprenticeship and then continued his education on farms in Schleswig-Holstein. He also attended the agricultural school in Hohenwestedt for three semesters , where he passed the final exam. From 1910 to 1912 he did military service with the 1st Guards Field Artillery Regiment and from 1912 to 1914 he worked as an estate agent at the Knighthood Directorate of Electorate and New Mark. From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier , first with his training regiment, then with the 63rd Reserve Field Artillery Regiment. He was wounded twice during the war and was promoted to lieutenant in the reserve in 1916. He was also awarded the Iron Cross I and II Class and the Knight's Cross for the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern .

Beeken had been tenant of the Schodenbüttel farm near Otterndorf since 1919 . In addition to exercising his profession, he worked in the federal state . He was chairman of the Hadeln district and a member of the entire board of the Hanoverian Land Association. During the time of the Weimar Republic , he joined the DNVP and the Stahlhelm . He was mayor of the Otterndorf city parliament and from March to October 1933 a member of the last Prussian state parliament .

In 1935 Beeken moved with his family to Frankfurt (Oder) . From 1939 he took part in the Second World War as a lieutenant in the artillery . According to reports from his regiment, he died on March 13, 1942 in the Demyansk Kessel Battle .
