Hermann Deninger

Hermann Deninger (born October 18, 1894 in Lorsbach , † August 25, 1967 in Frankfurt am Main ), Consul of the Principality of Monaco , was a smokers merchant in Frankfurt am Main. He was also Vice President of the Frankfurt am Main Chamber of Commerce and Industry , Chairman of the Regional Association of the Frankfurt am Main tobacco industry , Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Frankfurter Rauchwaren-Messe-GmbH and Chairman of the Association of German Philatelists .

Hermann Deninger's father owned a leather factory in Lorsbach im Taunus. When a smokers' finishing shop was attached to the factory during the First World War , he got his first contact with the fur industry . In 1923, Hermann Deninger took over his parents' business and developed it into a fur trading company that was highly regarded until his death, with its headquarters at Mainzer Landstrasse 65, Frankfurt .

After the Second World War, the Deninger company was the only fur wholesaler based in Frankfurt am Main. With foresighted foresight and a consistent approach, Deninger ensured that the fur wholesalers in Frankfurt around Niddastraße in the "new Brühl", which was based in Leipzig until the end of the war, found a home again (see also the fur trade center Niddastraße ). In 1946 Hermann Deninger became the first chairman of the state association of the tobacco industry in Hesse . From 1950 to 1956 he was chairman of the Association of the German Tobacco and Fur Industry . Since the establishment of Frankfurter Rauchwaren-Messe GmbH in 1953, he was its chairman of the supervisory board until 1956.

Hermann Deninger was Vice President of the Frankfurt Chamber of Commerce and Industry for ten years . Since 1950 he was a commercial judge . He was a member of the executive board of the State Association of Wholesale and Foreign Trade of Hesse .

His private interest was stamp collecting. He was also the chairman of the Association of German Philatelists. V. and chairman of the Foundation for the Promotion of Philately and Postal History e. V. He has received numerous honors in this area. The Foundation for the Promotion of Philately and Postal History created the Hermann Deninger Literature Prize in his honor . The literary prize is awarded for an individual work or the life's work of an author in the field of philately or postal history. Deninger also received the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany in 1954 , the Great Cross of the Order of Merit in 1956 and the plaque of honor of the city of Frankfurt am Main in 1960 . In 1965 he was also made a knight of the Monegasque Grimaldi Order .
