Hermann Drewitz (born September 18, 1887 in Coswig , † January 25, 1955 in Berlin-Schmargendorf ) was a German politician ( economic party , later CDU ).

Life and work

After attending secondary school in Coswig, Drewitz completed an apprenticeship as a baker in Dessau . He then worked as an unskilled worker, later passed the master craftsman's examination in the bakery trade and founded his own bakery in Berlin-Mahlsdorf in 1910 . From 1914 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier . After the National Socialists came to power, he was imprisoned several times.

Political party

Drewitz was one of the founders of the Reich Party of German Middle Classes (Economic Party) and was chairman of the party at the Reich level from 1920 to 1931 and 1932/33. After the Second World War he joined the CDU. On November 9, 1954, he resigned from the CDU and joined the Economic Association of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses , which he co-founded, for the 1954 parliamentary election .

MP

Drewitz was a city ​​councilor in Berlin from 1919 to 1921 and a member of the Prussian state parliament from 1921 to 1924 . In the Reichstag election in December 1924 , he was elected to the German Reichstag , to which he was a member until July 1932. Here he was from 1924 to 1931 chairman of the WP parliamentary group. From 1946 to 1955 he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives . He died two weeks after the end of the term.
