Hermann Ferno

Ludwig Hermann Ferno (born April 26, 1812 in Codram near Wollin ; † May 7, 1895 in Berlin ) was the District Administrator of the Usedom-Wollin district and a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Pomerania .

Life

Hermann Ferno attended grammar school in Greifswald . After high school he studied at the universities of Bonn and Berlin law . In 1832 he became a member of the Corps Rhenania Bonn . After studying and completing his military service as a one-year volunteer from 1833 to 1834, he became an auscultator in Stettin in 1835. He completed his legal clerkship, entered the Prussian civil service and became a government assessor. In 1842 he was appointed district administrator of the Usedom-Wollin district.

From 1845 to 1881 he was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Pomerania . From 1866 to 1870 he sat for the constituency Stettin 1 in the Prussian House of Representatives . He belonged to the faction of the Conservative Party .

On April 18, 1848, he moved with a company of soldiers into the city of Usedom , where there had been riots due to the unjust distribution of land during the separation . He freed Mayor Lange, who was trapped by an angry crowd in Anklamer Tor , but suspended him from duty and declared the separation carried out in the city to be illegal. In September of the same year and in May of the following year, he again entered Usedom with military support because of further unrest.

Ferno was appointed a secret councilor. During his term of office in 1874 the Prussian district order was introduced . He retired on July 1, 1882.

Hermann Ferno was the owner of the manor on Ostklüne. In 1845 he acquired a 43-hectare farm in Welzin and thus owned a total of 117 hectares.

He died in 1895 and was buried in Ostklüne. The noble landowners and other residents of the district collected 23,075 marks and thus established the Ferno Foundation named after him. This was administered by the district committee and served to promote non-profit and charitable interests as well as to support needy students from the district.
