Peter von Meinicke

Peter von Meinicke (* 1701 in Rathenow ; † September 1775 in Ilsenburg ) was a Prussian major general and chief of the Dragoon Regiment No. 3 .

Life

His father was a councilor in Rathenow.

Military career

He first studied and in 1715 went into the Prussian military service as a commoner . In the same year he took part in the siege of Stralsund . He was adjutant in 1718 and cornet in 1720 . On October 30, 1727 he became a lieutenant in the cuirassier regiment “Prince Friedrich” No. 5 , in 1740 he was made chief of staff and in 1741 real cavalry master , in 1742 he was promoted to major and on September 15, 1750 to lieutenant colonel , at the same time he was commander of the Cuirassier Regiment "Schoenaich" No. 6 . On October 3, 1752 he became a colonel . In March 1757 he became major general and chief of the Dragoon Regiment No. 3 (Truchsess). In 1761, due to his injuries, he applied for his departure , which was granted to him with a salary of 1000 thalers.

During the Silesian Wars he fought in the battles of Mollwitz , Chotusitz , Hohenfriedberg and Kesselsdorf . During the Seven Years' War he fought near Prague , Kolin , Kunersdorf and Zorndorf ; he was also wounded in Roßbach . In 1759 he took part in the campaigns to Bohemia and Franconia. There he captured Major General von Riedesel with 800 men at Himmelkron .

family

Meinicke was married to Philippine Luise von Lobenthal (1721-1803). His wife continued to receive a salary from grace after his death. The son Ernst Sigismund (* 1741) was a staff captain in Dragoon Regiment No. 8 and took his leave in 1784.
