Hermann Friedrich Wendt

Hermann Friedrich Wendt (born March 8, 1838 in Leipzig , † October 21, 1875 in Coswig (Saxony) ) was a German doctor and university professor .

Life

Hermann Friedrich Wendt studied medicine at the universities of Jena and Leipzig from 1855 to 1861 . In 1856 he became a member of the Corps Thuringia Jena and in 1856 of the Corps Saxonia Leipzig . In 1861 he was awarded a Dr. med. PhD. He then continued his education at the obstetric institutions in Prague and Vienna . From 1862 to 1863 he worked as an assistant at the obstetric clinic in Leipzig. Then he devoted himself to the special study of ear medicine . For this he went to Vienna again and visited other universities. In 1866 he completed his habilitation for otology in Leipzig, took over the otiatric polyclinic founded by Winter and taught as a private lecturer until 1874 and then as an extraordinary professor of otology until his untimely death. In October 1875 he died in the private institution Lindenhof near Coswig.

His research on the behavior of the tympanic cavity in the fetus and the newborn and its forensic significance was of scientific relevance . A rich collection of macroscopic and microscopic specimens in the pathological institute of Leipzig University came from Wendt.
