Hermann Gösmann (born January 9, 1904 in Ibbenbüren ; † January 21, 1979 in Osnabrück ) was a German football official and from 1962 to 1975 the sixth DFB president.

From 1934 to 1951 Gösmann was President of VfL Osnabrück . He then became deputy chairman of the North German Football Association . From 1953 to 1962 he was chairman of the North German Football Association.

Gösmann was involved in the founding of the Bundesliga , together with Franz Kremer , the then President of 1. FC Köln , and his future successor Hermann Neuberger . Hermann Gösmann was a lawyer by profession and also worked as a lawyer. In July 1962 he was elected President of the DFB in the gold hall of Dortmund's Westfalenhalle . The Bundesliga was also founded at this Bundestag.

The Bundesliga scandal in the 1970s, however, damaged his reputation. Gösmann also made an international career: in 1964, UEFA elected him to the Executive Committee, and at the same time he took over the chairmanship of the UEFA Amateur Committee. He was also re-elected four years later. In 1968 he was appointed to the Executive Committee of FIFA . He died in Osnabrück at the age of 75 from the consequences of a pulmonary embolism. He was buried in the Heger cemetery in Osnabrück.
